Armenia – one of the ancient countries in the world that is immensely rich in centuries-old temples, churches and monasteries. Visiting the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, you will feel the power of Armenians’ faith. In the territory of the cathedral, there are churches of St. Hripsime and Gayane, where you can light a candle and be sure that your prayers will be answered. During your excursion, you will find out in honour of whom these churches were named and what role they played in the spread of Christianity in Armenia. Continuing the excursion, you will visit the Zvartnots temple, which is also known as the "Cathedral of Angels" and the Khor Virap monastery, which is located above the underground prison, where, according to the legend, the Armenian king Trdat III imprisoned St. Gregory the Illuminator before he was converted to Christianity in 301.
